Weekly Update 2 - Adding book clubs to the site

In this second week I added a dedicated book club section and have doubled the number of books to 4,382.

So in this second week I changed the name to readerprint.com

The quiz that you do is interesting, there are 37 factors and that means that there is 2.5 septillion combinations of results for how your factors are ranked. That means that you will pretty much be the only person in the world that gets your specific readerprint score. I thought that was pretty cool.

In terms of stats, we have 24 users signed up and 4,382 books.

I found a large dataset of 20 million books open source that I can use but I'm wondering if that will just clog up the system. Maybe it will be cool to keep it smaller?

I had about 160 unique visitors to the site viewing 600 pages. That's because I published it on my Substack and Medium where I have 16,500 subscribers on Medium and 1,000 on Substack, so it's a relatively small conversion and not that many sign ups, but the site wasn't really the main point of the article.

I think I haven't really made any inroads into really capturing people yet. I think I need a Book Club as that is the part where the social elements are the best.

Funnily enough, every person that joins says "oh that would be great for movies" - so I will make an equivalent site for that.

I added a new book club feature. This will allow you to contain everything that your book club needs in one place.

All in all, it's funny week 1 is exciting and week 2 is already like you have to start to put in work as you get over the initial thrill of releasing something. This is why you ultimately have to build sites that you are passionate about.

The first week of ReadingRoll was mostly plumbing, importing, testing, and turning a book tracker into something with taste. Here is what shipped and what the early numbers look like.
